NPL update
I’m finally in the last stretch of editing The Naked Preacher Lady and it’s been a long haul. I shot it almost ten years ago. I never had any desire to make a documentary, but when I met Baby Rae I just knew I had to do it. I shot things as they happened and they happened to fall apart as I was shooting them and that’s a pretty amazing thing to capture on video. When I...

Silent Night Deadly Night
Every year at the Hollywood Theater here in Portland, Oregon, Dan Halsted screens his awesome print of the classic Santa slasher flick, Silent Night Deadly Night. It’s a beautiful holiday tradition in which I can truly get behind. This year Irina Beffa designed the poster and this is it and I love it like crazy. I am so sick of so many posters which emulate the grindhouse style of the...

Cryptids
When I was a kid, my life was egyptology, ufo’s, and cryptozoology. When I discovered movies and music, that stuff got pushed into the margins. Upon getting to know George, I discovered he was a big fan of aliens and strange creatures and had read many books on the subjects. This reawakened my past interests. But I always felt like that was his domain and I’d just be some copycat...

Chainsaw Lamp
I was watching my Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 gruesome edition DVD and was totally blown away by the fact that I have the EXACT same light fixture in my house which Leatherface smacks his head against! Totally cool!

WatchWatch
Back in 2005 I produced a music video for the band Xiu Xiu and it’s posted on my youtube page. A couple of weeks ago I get an email from some big company saying that I may have infringed upon some copyrights having to do with the song. The images in the video were all shot and edited by me. The song is owned by Xiu Xiu and they have no beef with my video. The times they are a changing. The...

Give The Gift Of Underground Cinema This Holiday...
This holiday season you can give the blessed gift of underground cinema to those you love. A nice fire. Some eggnog. And a Bob Moricz movie. What a perfect holiday.

Sacramento: Vortex of Horror
My friend and PALACE OF STAINS co-director Jacob is writing a piece about the history of film making in Sacramento over the years and he asked me to contribute some quotes about my time there making movies, so this is what I gave him: While living there, I always referred to Sacramento as a vortex of horror and evil. I mean, this is where Sacramento Vampire Richard Trenton Chase drank a baby...

Wicked Love
Once again, James DePaolo over at wickedchannel.com comes through with a super positive review for OVERDOSE IN THE HOSPITAL OF LOVE. It’s a crazy movie and I am really glad to get some positive press about it. That one goes beyond beyond beyond. “When life is over, I have to see what is inside this man’s brain. He is clearly either the most creative person I ever watched on any...

SCOOP 6 PM
Had the pleasure of attending the opening of Dustin Zemel’s interactive video piece SCOOP 6 PM, in which I got a chance to participate, at the Whitebox Gallery. It was way cool. You should go see it. A room full of newscasters telling the same story, vying for your attention, is a pretty intense and funny experience. It’s up until the seventeenth of January.
